Exclusive: Don Goodman discusses whether Jude Bellingham of Real Madrid will ever rejoin Birmingham City.

Don Goodman, a Sky Sports commentator and EFL specialist, thinks it is impossible to rule out Jude Bellingham, a current Real Madrid and England phenomenon, returning to Birmingham City in the future.

The club’s long-term goals have been well-documented since Knighthead Capital Management first replaced Birmingham Sports Holdings Limited (BSHL) in the summer of 2023, and they have steadily accelerated during the previous two and a half seasons at St. Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park.

The plans for the Blues’ impending 62,000-seat stadium, which will be part of the East Birmingham Sports Quarter development, were made public by Tom Wagner on Thursday, November 20th, in the afternoon. The West Midlands team’s new home will be known as the “Powerhouse.”

The stadium’s distinctive design has undoubtedly divided opinions. Architects Heatherwick Studio and MANICA claim that the stadium’s 12 chimneys, which can be seen for up to 40 miles, are a tribute to the Second City’s industrial past. The upcoming development will be built on land that was once a brickworks site during the industrial revolution and is currently occupied by the abandoned Birmingham Wheels BMX track.

Bellingham was heavily featured in a five-minute reel that eventually featured the aforementioned designs, along with Wagner and Birmingham’s advisory board chairman and minority stakeholder, Tom Brady. Bellingham also sent a follow-up message to supporters following the club’s official 150th anniversary game, which was marked in style with a 4-1 victory over Norwich City on Saturday afternoon.

As a result, many Bluenoses have questioned if the 22-year-old will ever be able to rejoin his childhood team if Wagner’s on-field goals are fulfilled in conjunction with the new stadium.

Issues with Don Goodman Jude Bellingham predicts a reunion with Birmingham City

Goodman made these claims exclusively to Football League World, citing the Three Lions and Real Madrid star’s inspirational impact on people in this region of the world. The player was the target of £25 million and €103 million transfer moves to Borussia Dortmund and the Santiago Bernabéu after making 44 Championship appearances for Birmingham in 2019–20. Prior to that, in August 2019, he became the club’s youngest-ever player and goalscorer in a two-week period.

According to the commentator, “you could never say never with Jude Bellingham and a return to Birmingham City,” FLW reported.

“The fact they retired his shirt number is a huge honour that not many players get bestowed upon them,” he stated.

“Given all the desire displayed, that might play a role in the future. By the time Jude Bellingham is ready to return to England, they might already be a well-known Premier League team thanks to the new stadium and playing team investments.

“You couldn’t really see it for the foreseeable future, but you could never rule it out in the distant future,” Goodman said.

Jude Bellingham’s conduct during the ‘Powerhouse’ unveiling in Birmingham City provoked a backlash.

In what was an emotional and significant reveal for everybody linked with Birmingham last week, Bellingham was, predictably, one of those who viewed the ‘Powerhouse’ plans before the vast majority, expressing his opinions inside a hospitality room in the Kop stand of St. Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park.

The UEFA Champions League and La Liga winner first responded with a “wow” and a shocked expression before asking the people behind the camera when the new stadium would be finished. Many fans responded to Bellingham’s expression when he said that it was hoped to be finished by the summer of 2030.

After multiple false dawns under Far-Eastern ownership groups, sell-out crowds have once again become a weekly occurrence in B9, as a result of Wagner’s massive investments in various departments. Of course, the Blues are still a completely different club than the one from which he and his brother, Jobe, left in recent years.

The academy graduate’s emotional return to the Midlands must come at the right time. The Blues still have a lot of work to do before they can become a dominant force in the English game, and they want to break their Premier League hiatus that has lasted since May 2011 as soon as possible.
