Reporter Rob Butler reports that Will Still and Russell Martin have been ruled out of the running for the position of manager at Norwich City, which is currently searching for a new manager.
After Liam Manning led Bristol City to the Championship play-offs during his stellar tenure there, Norwich City named Manning their permanent replacement for Johannes Hoff Thorup in the summer. His ability to build on that momentum and propel NCFC forward was hoped for.
But a rough start soon got out of hand, and following last weekend’s loss to Leicester City, Manning was fired. Norwich now sits 23rd in the rankings with just nine points after suffering their tenth defeat in 15 games.
With a number of names currently in the running, the focus is now on hiring a new head coach. Gary O’Neil is another contender being considered, and Jon Dahl Tomasson has been associated since the beginning.

A significant update on NCFC’s management search has finally surfaced. Despite recent firings from Rangers and Southampton, Russell Martin and Will Still were thought to be in the running for the position. However, reporter Rob Butler has since revealed that they are no longer in the running.
It is not good for NCFC that Will Still and Russell Martin are no longer in the running.
Among the more well-known individuals connected to the Norwich City position are Still and Martin. The two are searching for a place to relaunch their managerial careers after having extremely high stocks prior to their recent dismissals.

James Ray, the newly fired manager, was mentioned in the search three days ago when Norwich City wanted to replace Liam Manning.
Martin began his career at MK Dons and progressed through the EFL levels, moving on to Swansea City and eventually Southampton. Despite being fired by the Saints the previous season, he was given consideration for a number of good positions before being hired by the Rangers.
Regarding Still, he has performed admirably with both Reims and Lens in France. He would still be a top-flight manager if he hadn’t moved to the Championship for personal reasons.
Now, where is Norwich City?
There are now two obvious contenders for the position after Still and Martin withdrew from the contest. The current favorites are Tomasson and O’Neil, as indicated before.
Neither, especially Tomasson, who was just fired by Sweden, has been unemployed for very long. He managed Blackburn Rovers and performed well in the main leagues prior to his stint in international management.
Naturally, O’Neil was a player for the NCFC and has managed Wolves and Bournemouth in the Premier League. It would be his first full-time position in the Championship if he were hired.
Another name that has emerged for the position is Mark Fotheringham. He was most recently manager of Huddersfield Town and is now Celtic’s assistant manager.
