Norwich City star Darren Huckerby has a humorous reaction to the major Josh Sargent and Burnley update.

In light of Burnley’s interest, Darren Huckerby has stated that Norwich City will demand far more than £1.5 million for Josh Sargent.

The Clarets intend to return with interest in the player when the market opens in January, according to a claim Alan Nixon made over the weekend.

The US international, who has received high appreciation for his efforts in the Championship, reportedly rejected a £1.5 million bid in the summer.

After leaving Werder Bremen in 2021, the 25-year-old joined the Canaries and quickly became an important member of the team.

However, the striker has only contributed five goals and two assists in the first 15 games of the season, which is below average.

Josh Sargent’s stats 2025/26 (As of Nov. 10th)
Stat Per 90
Non-penalty goals 0.28
Non-penalty expected goals (npxG) 0.34
Shots 2.55
Assists 0.14
Expected assists (xAG) 0.17
npxG + xAG 0.52
Shot-creating actions 2.13

Darren Huckerby responds to Burnley’s interest in Josh Sargent

Huckerby has stated that the £1.5 million amount is insufficient to even cover his own shady hip, much less a settlement for Sargent.

The prospect of the American leaving for so little before the market opens in the new year has made the former Norwich striker giggle.

He wrote, via X, “You couldn’t get my knackered right hip for that kind of money!” and included three emojis that made others chuckle.

Because Norwich is in the Championship, there has previously been a lot of conjecture surrounding Sargent’s future.

Despite the team’s disappointing 13th place finish, the striker received a lot of plaudits for his 15 goals in 32 Championship games last season.

Due to the decision to fire Liam Manning last weekend, the Canaries are currently without a manager as their performance has continued to deteriorate this season.

After 15 games, Norwich is now in 23rd place in the table, four points outside of safety. Their next game is on November 22 when they travel to Birmingham City, where they will kick off at 3 p.m.

Josh Sargent, a former winger for Norwich City, will be very expensive for Burnley.
Burnley is currently a desirable option for Sargent because they can provide Premier League football in January and have the ability to stay in the top division.

In the meanwhile, unless a new manager can significantly improve their performance, Norwich, who are now in the Championship’s relegation zone, will be moving to League One this summer.

However, he might cost up to £20 or 25 million, therefore there is no way in hell that the Canaries should accept any offer below £15 million heading into the winter market.

The Norfolk team has significant negotiating power because Sargent’s contract is set to expire in the summer of 2028. If the club’s survival in the second division is on the line, it will be much more difficult to persuade them to cash in.
