Journalist Lyall Thomas of Sky Sports claims that Southampton sporting director Johannes Spors is now focusing on Germany in his hunt for Will Still’s replacement. The 43-year-old is in charge of the team’s managerial search and is reportedly taking into account a number of applicants from his native nation.

With interim coach Tonda Eckert presently in charge of first-team duties following Still’s firing on Sunday, the Saints are not in a rush to name a new manager. Eckert, 32, is one of the candidates for the long-term position.
The club also admires Mark Robins of Stoke City and Frank Lampard of Coventry City, although former managers Ralph Hasenhuttl and Russell Martin are not being considered. Southampton, who have only won two of their 13 games under Still, are now in 21st place in the Championship.
