Hojlund, on loan from Manchester United, scored twice in Napoli’s 2-1 victory over Sporting.
Rasmus Hojlund’s post went viral after he scored twice in Napoli’s 2-1 Champions League victory over Sporting Lisbon.
Napoli took the lead on 36 minutes when Hojlund ran on to a precise Kevin De Bruyne through ball and slotted home.
After Sporting equalised through Colombian attacker Luis Suarez’s penalty, Hojlund scored the winning goal with 11 minutes remaining.
The Dane once again teamed up with ex-Manchester City star De Bruyne, and Hojlund headed the Belgian’s cross into the net after beating Sporting custodian Rui Silva to it.
The 22-year-old has four goals in all competitions for Napoli since joining on loan from United in the summer.
Manager Ruben Amorim declared him surplus to requirements, allowing him to leave Old Trafford on loan with an option to buy if certain conditions are met.
Hojlund’s European results have generally mirrored those of his time at United – he scored six Europa League goals last season – with the Dane’s major issue at Old Trafford being a lack of Premier League goals.
He only scored four goals in the English top level last season, but he has joined a team that is the defending Serie A champions and full of confidence.
The 22-year-old is certainly enjoying life in Naples, as evidenced by his post-match Instagram post.
The Dane took to social media to share a photo of himself enjoying his goal, along with the caption: “‘Hojlund scores twice in the Champions League after two assists from Kevin De Bruyne’ was not on my 2025 bingo card.”

In response to the post, one United fan remarked, “Rasmus was never the problem.” “He never received proper service.”
A different individual responded: “Not surprised that a striker is scoring goals when a team actually passes the ball to their striker.”
And a third said, “I am happy for him. We mistreated and misused them. “Well done, lad.”
Hojlund hailed De Bruyne after the match, saying it’s’very amazing’ to play beside him for Antonio Conte’s team.
“I’m happy to play for Napoli in the Champions League, because I love to score in Europe,” he shared with Stan Sport AU.
“Playing with a player like Kevin is incredibly amazing. I’ve played with a lot of amazing players at Manchester United, but Kevin is a special talent.
“He has so many victories and is a game legend. For me, it’s about locating the gaps, and he’ll place the ball in them for me to run on.”
