Tammy Abraham, a former player for Chelsea, appears likely to rejoin the Premier League as Everton, Tottenham, Aston Villa, and West Ham all show interest.
The 26-year-old has been put up for sale by Roma, as TEAMtalk first revealed at the beginning of June. The English quintet is currently searching for a new front man.
Abraham joined the Italian powerhouses in the summer of 2021 after being signed by Jose Mourinho. He has since made 119 appearances and scored 37 goals for the team.
Despite having a severe knee injury this season, his admirers in England have not given up on him. Before his injury at the end of 2022–2023 season, Abraham was strongly connected to Everton, which put an end to any plans to move to Goodison Park.
According to Italian reports, the Toffees have rekindled their interest in the attacker because of the uncertainty surrounding Dominic Calvert Lewin, their number nine.
However, Everton might find it difficult to prevail in the race to sign Abraham considering their FFP standing and the opposition from West Ham, Tottenham, and Aston Villa.
“Fighting” for Tammy Abraham, Prem Quartet
The Premier League’s interest in Abraham has ‘pleased’ Roma, according to Italian publication Corriere dello Sera, since they intend to transfer him in the upcoming weeks.
By selling the forward, the team will free up salary space for new players and save €6 million gross [€4.5 million net] annually.
Abraham and Mourinho had a great working relationship at Roma, but since the manager left in January, Abraham has become less important at the Stadio Olimpico.
Abraham is reportedly “difficult to say no” to a Premier League move, and Everton, Tottenham, Villa and West Ham are “fighting” for his signature.
According to reports, the Giallorossi have placed a price tag of €30 million (about £25.4 million) on the striker and intend to hold “an auction” in order to maximise the proceeds from his sale.
One of Ange Postecoglou’s top goals for the summer is to sign a new striker. Abraham can now be added to the list of intriguing candidates that the Australian coach is keeping an eye on.
Abraham might replace Jhon Duran at Aston Villa, who are poised to part ways with him for almost £40 million due to Chelsea’s interest.
Conversely, West Ham is eager to add strikers to their roster in order to provide new manager Julen Lopetegui with the best opportunity of winning at the London Stadium.
Everton has long been a fan of Abraham, as was previously mentioned, but before they can make an approach for the Roma star, they must close at least one significant deal.
