Liverpool’s ‘discreet’ Alexander Isak plan emerges as stunning update given in transfer saga

There have been rumors about Alexander Isak joining Liverpool.

After being connected to Alexander Isak of Newcastle United, Liverpool is reportedly going to play it quiet as their plan to acquire a new striker takes shape.

The Reds have been active in the transfer market thus far this summer. They have already signed players like Milos Kerkez, Florian Wirtz, and Jeremie Frimpong.

In the meantime, Anfield has been connected to players like Viktor Gyokeres, Marc Guehi, Hugo Ekitike, and Isak.

Isak, a standout for Newcastle who scored 27 goals in 42 games during the 24/25 season, has been rumored to be Liverpool’s dream target in recent weeks.

The Magpies’ unwillingness to conduct business, however, has been widely known, and a price beyond £150 million would be required merely to initiate talks.

Journalist Ben Jacobs recently discussed Liverpool’s plans on The United Stand.

“The Reds are waiting to see if the Isak door would be completely shut in the coming weeks before making a ‘discreet’ move for Eintracht Frankfurt’s Ekitike,” he said.

With 22 goals and 12 assists in 48 games across all competitions, Ekitike, 23, is among the most highly regarded strikers in Europe.

“I think what’s going to happen with (Hugo) Ekitike is if Liverpool discovers in the coming days or weeks that Alexander Isak’s door is completely closed, that’s what I feel they’re waiting for,” Jacobs stated.

“They will next focus on Hugo Ekitike, and they will do it in a covert manner. If they don’t acquire Viktor Gyokeres, we’ll hear a lot more clamor about Chelsea, Manchester United, and Arsenal in the interim.”

He continued: “But I’m not so sure things are advanced with any of those clubs, the price tag would have to drop significantly for Hugo Ekitike if Manchester United are to enter the race.”

Along with players like Ibrahima Konate and Harvey Elliott, Liverpool players Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz have also been linked to leaving.
