Chelsea’s Noni Madueke Named ‘Biggest Club in London’ Before Surprise Arsenal Move

After Noni Madueke moved to Arsenal this week, footage showing him naming the biggest football team in London went viral. In the upcoming days, the former Chelsea winger is expected to move across the capital to the Emirates Stadium for an estimated £52 million.

Even if Madueke has a better chance of succeeding with the move, it appears that west London may still be his true calling. He was a huge fan of the Blues at the time, as seen by footage from three years ago in which he discusses the argument over the capital’s largest club.

Noni Madueke Named London’s Biggest Football Club

As a Londoner himself, he had no doubt that it is Chelsea

Arsenal and Chelsea typically argue over which is the largest football club in London. The Blues have had a considerably bigger influence abroad, even if Arsenal can claim to have been in and around title talks for longer and to have won more domestic league crowns than their western rivals.

Chelsea can boast two Champions League victories, two Europa League titles, and, more recently, a Europa Conference League victory, while Arsenal has won an Inter-Cities Fairs Cup and a European Cup Winners’ Cup. Without a doubt, Madueke’s decision to name them the greater club was influenced by their achievements on the European front. In 2023, he stated (see the entire segment below):

“Hey, let me reiterate: Chelsea is the largest club in London. But let’s face it, it’s one of the largest clubs in the world.

Madueke, who played for the England young team that won the Under-21 European Championship two summers ago, joins Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Norgaard, and Martin Zubimendi as Arsenal’s fourth summer acquisition.

He made 92 appearances for Chelsea, contributing nine assists and 20 goals. However, he will undoubtedly be keen to raise those figures as he seeks to assist the Gunners in shedding their image as almost men.
