Even though Tottenham Hotspur ended their 17-year trophyless streak by winning the Europa League, Ange Postecoglou’s future in North London remains uncertain. Due to Spurs’ poor domestic performance, the former Celtic manager has been under pressure all season. Postecoglou basically dropped tools in England, concentrating all of his energy on ensuring his team’s success in Europe, as he had nothing to play for in the Premier League.
Although the Europa League win proved to be a profitable risk, his superiors have not been entirely satisfied. There are still a lot of rumors that he is leaving the club, and Sky Bet has identified the 25 managers who are most likely to succeed him if he does leave.

Including Steven Gerrard and Michael Carrick
Despite being viewed as outside candidates, several unexpected names are still in the running for the Tottenham position. The first manager named is Steven Gerrard, who hasn’t had a job since leaving Al-Ettifaq in January 2025. Despite being one of the greatest midfielders in Premier League history, the Englishman hasn’t had much success as a manager. His odds are 50/1 with Sky Bet, although it would be a hazardous appointment.
The Liverpool great is tied with Michael Carrick, who is playing for Middlesbrough in the Championship, Portugal’s Roberto Martinez, Tottenham’s current assistant coach Ryan Mason, and Scott Parker, who recently led Burnley back to the top flight.
20-16 Fabian Hurzeler and Zinedine Zidane are featured here.
Additionally listed at 50/1, Cesc Fabregas is tied with those in the previous group. Zinedine Zidane and Fabian Hurzeler of Brighton & Hove Albion are only ahead of him, both at 40/1. Since leaving Real Madrid in 2021, the former employee has not been employed. He is among the greatest managers in the history of the Champions League because of his flawless record with Los Blancos.
The latter recently had a fantastic Premier League debut season with Brighton. He led the Seagulls to an eighth-place finish despite being the division’s youngest manager. Thiago Motta, who has excelled with AC Milan and is currently 33/1, and Ernesto Valverde, whose odds are likewise 40/1, are the final two managers in this area.
15–11 Gareth Southgate might rejoin the club football team.
A small number of managers are ranked 33/1 to succeed Postecoglou. Among them are Lee Carsley, the head coach of the England U-21 team, and Michel, the current manager of Girona. There is also Julian Nagelsmann on the list. With the 2026 World Cup approaching, it’s difficult to think that the German, who presently manages his country’s team, will be ready to leave them behind, but he is seen as an outsider.
Gareth Southgate and Diego Simeone, the longtime manager of Atletico Madrid, are the final two managers listed at 33/1. The latter hasn’t managed at the club level since 2009, when he left Middlesbrough, and hasn’t played since resigning as England manager last summer. The Englishman is a contender for the Spurs position despite having previously been linked to Manchester United.

Mauricio Pochettino could return to Tottenham
Carlos Coberan, who is regarded as 25/1, is entering the top 10. The coach has restored his reputation at Valencia following dismal periods at West Bromwich Albion, Olympiacos, and Huddersfield. Mauricio Pochettino and Roberto De Zerbi of Marseille are 20/1 ahead of him. The current USA manager could rejoin Spurs after serving as their manager for five years, from 2014 to 2019.
Kieran McKenna led Ipswich Town to consecutive promotions, however this season he was unable to retain his team in the Premier League. He is ranked 16/1 to take over at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but that doesn’t mean his time in the top division is done. Andoni Iraola of Bournemouth is tied with him. Since his arrival, the manager has guided the Cherries to previously unheard-of heights of success, and it appears that a Champions League team may soon try to sign him.

Thomas Frank is currently the favourite
Going into the top five, Sky Bet believes that Xavi Hernandez, Simone Inzaghi, Oliver Glasner, Marco Silva, and Thomas Frank have the best chance of succeeding Tottenham as managers. After leaving Barcelona in 2024, Xavi has been waiting for a chance, and Spurs might be that opportunity. Simone Inzaghi is tied with him at 12/1. The Italian, who led Inter Milan to the Champions League final, was humiliated in a 5-0 loss and may be leaving the San Siro as a result, according to sources.
Oliver Glasner is just ahead of them at 9/1. Since joining Crystal Palace last year, the coach has been outstanding, leading the team to their first-ever major prize. Many elite teams will be keeping an eye on him, and Spurs may be one of them. Marco Silva of Fulham, who is rated at 4/1, has been outstanding for the Cottagers.
However, Brentford’s Thomas Frank is the favorite. One cannot overestimate the amount of work he has done as Bees manager, and it is impressive that they have been able to retain him for as long as they have. He led them to another successful season with one of the Premier League’s lowest wage bills this season, performing beyond their pay grade and adjusting to life without Ivan Toney after his departure. Given how well Frank has performed for Brentford, it’s clear why Sky Bet believes he’s the favorite.
