Jude Bellingham’s health is causing fans to worry, as video from Real Madrid’s most recent 1-0 victory over Getafe seemed to show the midfielder going above and beyond to prevent a chronic shoulder injury. The 21-year-old is currently in his second season at the Bernabeu and is considered by many to be among the best football players in the world.
The former Birmingham City and Borussia Dortmund striker has maintained the scorching form that propelled Carlo Ancelotti’s team to a La Liga and Champions League double in 2023–2024 with 26 goal contributions in 46 games across all competitions this season. Though it appears that neither trophy will be won this time, there are now concerns that Bellingham may soon have to miss time due to shoulder surgery.
During his three-year stay in Germany, he experienced recurring issues in that area, and it now appears that postponing treatment may have finally caught up with him.
Video Displays Lengths Bellingham Will Steer Clear of Shoulder Problems
The Three Lions star’s surgery has been long overdue.

Bellingham dislocated his shoulder during a 0-0 tie with Rayo Vallecano in November 2023. Although he finished the game, he was not present for England’s final two Euro 2024 qualifiers and the next two Los Blancos games.
According to talkSPORT, Bellingham might require surgery to treat his injury in the off-season, but the decision was made to forego the procedure so that he might play in Euro 2024. He obviously still has issues with it, as evidenced by the following incident:
A physician was observed severely strapping Bellingham’s left shoulder as he got ready to enter the game in the second half. The staff person had to spend more than a minute getting the child ready to leave the bench. The midfielder recently resumed wearing it after claiming that it had previously impacted his play.
He claimed that the strap restricted his mobility and prevented him from breathing normally, so he asked to stop wearing it. However, a recent flare-up of pain has compelled him to resume using it. Whether Bellingham gets much-needed treatment at last could be decided as Los Blancos near the end of the season.
However, with the redesigned Club World Cup starting in June, a packed schedule of games may once again influence that choice. It will be interesting to see how Ancelotti’s team handles the honour now that more clubs are participating, as European clubs used to overlook it as a significant honour. However, Bellingham will probably want it resolved before England’s first World Cup trip to the USA and Mexico next summer.
Bellingham’s Reluctance to Have Surgery Causes Anxiety
His club and country supporters urge him to absorb the hit.

One X user commented, “This irks my soul,” in response to the video. “He’ll be cooked before 30 if he continues putting his body through all of this,” a second person added. Then a third wrote:
Jude’s operation has been postponed so frequently that it is impossible for any football player to play comfortably in this situation. As a result, his performances have undoubtedly suffered.
The user’s comment, “Okay, this is just ridiculous,” also accurately captured the sense of worry surrounding Bellingham’s shoulder. One final comment said, “Just go undergo surgery bro, stop postponing it or it will ruin your career later on.” Another said, “He’s going to crash soon if he keeps this up.”
