Following a 3-0 Champions League loss to Arsenal, Real Madrid icon Guti criticises Carlo Ancelotti’s strategies and begs for greater trust in young players rather than ageing veterans.
During his appearance on El Chiringuito, Guti didn’t mince words:
“Try the bench if the starters aren’t performing well!” — a direct attack on Ancelotti for not letting go of Arda Güler and Endrick, who were both benched as Madrid’s midfield broke down.
Calls for change have increased as a result of the loss, with supporters repeating Guti’s desire for a youth-led comeback. Ancelotti acknowledges his mistakes but keeps using the team’s best players, running the risk of stagnation before the second leg.
