Reportedly, Ruben Amorim, the manager of Manchester United, does not have a soft spot for a certain surprise player who he does not believe would be a good fit for his system at the club.
Amorim has not been afraid to shake things up within the squad and establish himself as the man in charge at Old Trafford ever since he took over as manager of English football club Manchester United in November, when Erik ten Hag was replaced.
Players such as Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, and Marcus Rashford, most notably, fell out of favour with the new United manager, which resulted in them spending some time on the bench or on loan with another club. Marcus Rashford was the most notable of these players.
According to reports, Amorim is ‘not convinced’ that the star player is a good fit for his future plans, which means that it appears that another massive United player could be on the verge of being cut.
In a shocking report that was published a month ago, it was revealed that United wonderkid Kobbie Mainoo was contemplating leaving the club in the near future. This was due to the fact that he had turned down contract extension offers that were presented to him as a reward for his significant contribution in recent seasons.
In the upcoming summer transfer window, it is speculated that Mainoo will look to make a move abroad. The most recent update has revealed that Amorim may be willing to allow the Englishman to leave the club for a suitable fee in June. This is a possibility that has been brought to light by the latest information.
Peter Hall, a journalist for the Independent, claims that the manager of Manchester United has not been completely convinced by Mainoo’s fitness levels since he joined the club. As a result, the manager would be willing to let him go if he chooses to remain open to the possibility of moving on to another club.
Despite the fact that United would prefer to keep the highly regarded 19-year-old player at Old Trafford, the report asserts that they would reluctantly sell even if they received offers of approximately 70 million pounds.
The frustrations of the Portuguese manager may be explained by the fact that Mainoo has had a difficult time finding regular minutes ever since Amorim arrived at the end of 2024. This is because injuries have caused him to be sidelined for extended periods of time.
The youngster has only made a total of sixteen appearances under Amorim across all competitions, with his most recent match being a 2-1 victory over Leicester City from the previous season.
On the other hand, Mainoo is anticipated to return to the field in the near future, which means that he will be given the opportunity to compete for his spot in Amorim’s squad in the event that he decides to remain with the team.
