Sprinter speaks out after rival leaves her with suspected ‘broken skull’ following disgusting act in race

A junior sprinter has spoken out after a competitor struck her on the head with a baton, causing her to sustain a possible skull fracture. The rival could have fractured her skull.

On Monday, students from a variety of local high schools competed in a relay race measuring four hundred meters in length. The race was held in the state of Virginia in the United States of America.

During the final stretch of the race, Brookville High School junior sprinter Kaelen Tucker was picking up the pace and was on the verge of moving into second place. The gold medal was up for grabs.

However, a competitor in the sprinting competition was concerned that she would be placed in third place, and in a shocking turn of events, she struck Tucker on the head with her baton.

As soon as she felt the discomfort, Tucker immediately held her head for support. She then stumbled off the track and was unable to complete the race.

I.C. Norcom High School, the school that the girl who committed the offence was competing for, was disqualified under the “contact interference” rule. Following the rapid dissemination of the video on the internet, Tucker’s mother disclosed that she had sustained a “slight concussion” and was also being examined for the possibility of a skull fracture as a result of the blow on her head.

Tucker is currently suffering from a headache, and the medical professionals will wait for the swelling to subside before conducting an examination and providing a more definitive diagnosis.

During an appearance on WSET ABC News on Thursday, the young girl and her mother discussed the incident together. The conversation took place during the appearance.

“As we were coming up to the middle of the curve, we were bumping arms a lot,” Tucker recalled telling me.

Consequently, I was able to get more on the outside of the curve in order to evade her. It was at that moment that she struck me in the head with a baton despite the fact that I had finally pushed through to get in front of her.

“I was so bewildered by the news. What happened was that I was hit in the head and then I fell off the track. I had no idea what had become of me.

“No-one [from the opposition], at the time, came up and checked on me or anything.”

In addition, Tucker’s mother disclosed that she had been in communication with the Virginia High School League (VHSL), which has been conducting an investigation following the notification of the incident.

“I wanted to get in touch with VHSL,” she said. Even though I was aware that it was after hours, I still told them what had occurred by leaving a message and sending an email. There was a call from VHSL that came back to us this morning, informing us that they had received the message and that they were conducting an investigation and working with the schools.

It is not possible for us to know all of the actions that are going to be taken at this time; however, I believe that my entire thing was not an apology.

“There are no coaches, competitors, or anything else. Despite the fact that I do not believe it was an accident, there was no cause for concern.

“And it has been more than twenty-four hours at this point. Despite the fact that my child was hurt, no one came to check on her. Simply put, we are waiting to find out what the terms of the disciplinary action will be.

The most significant problem that Tucker was facing was the fact that she was unable to immediately return to the track due to the checkpoints that were required.

On the other hand, given the gravity of the situation, Tucker’s mother was questioned about whether or not she had considered filing criminal charges for assault.

“Especially when there has been no apology, I guess that was the major thing for me,” she responded in response.

It is natural for everyone to have their own point of view regarding what they believe you ought to do; however, that is also the viewpoint of another individual, and I would like to take that into consideration as well.

“She definitely struck my daughter more than once but she is somebody else’s child as well.”
