Manchester United are about to make their first January deal under Amorim, as the player is due to arrive soon for a medical TODAY – Well done, Man United fans!
Diego Leon, a star player for Cerro Porteño, will soon be getting medicals at Manchester United, according to his agent.
United’s interest in Leon was first made public in December 2024, and the club moved quickly to sign him before any other clubs in Europe did.
Then, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano told them that United and Cerro Porteño had agreed on a price for Leon to move to Old Trafford.
Romano also said that all the paperwork was signed and finished. Leon won’t be able to join the Red Devils until the summer, since he won’t be 18 until April.
It has now come to light that Leon is going to fly to England for his United test.
This is what journalist Bruno Pont wrote on X: “On talking to Renato Bittar, he confirmed that he and Diego León will be traveling to Manchester in the next few days, where the player will be getting medical tests.”
If the club confirms Leon’s move, he will become the first player from Paraguay to play for the 20-time English champions.
The 17-year-old played his first game in the top level of Paraguayan football for Cerro Porteño in August. He quickly became a regular member of the first team.
The left back has an amazing body for his age and is also very good at using his feet. Many people think he’s one of the best possibilities coming out of South America right now because he’s very dangerous in forward areas.
He is also very good at duels and challenges and very quick.
Leon was hired in line with Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS’s transfer plan, which is to bring in young, talented, and hungry players who could become world-class stars with the right help.
Also, United is back in action on Sunday when they host their bitter foes Liverpool at Anfiel.
