9 players that will leave Wolves ahead of the EFL Championship campaign have been revealed.

Wolverhampton Wanderers will undergo a massive squad revamp following their relegation to the EFL Championship.

West Ham’s 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace on Monday secured the Black Country club’s relegation.

However, in a piece published by The Athletic, far more detail has been revealed about what lies ahead for Wolves as they return to the second tier for the first time since 2017/18.

After speaking with ‘unknown’ insiders at the club’s Compton Park training base, the outlet compiled a list of nine players who appear to be on their way out.

1 Joao Gomes

According to the aforementioned rumor, Joao Gomes, along with player number two on this list, are “certain” to leave.

Gomes, who arrived from Flamengo in 2023 for a reputed sum of £15 million, is one of the few Wolves players whose work cannot be faulted.

According to a Fan Feature on The BBC, if the Brazilian midfielder leaves Wolves, his “absence would be felt on so many fronts.”

2 Andre

Andre, Gomes’ Brazilian rival, is the second player expected to leave Wolves this summer, according to The Athletic.

Andre was also signed from Brazil for a good amount of money, his price being an initial £18.5m from Fluminese. He has made 70 appearances in Old Gold.

Prior to joining Wolves in 2024, the 24-year-old had a deal to Fulham fall through earlier in the same window after stating that he was willing to moving to the Premier League.

It’s unclear what the club’s asking prices are for Gomes and Andre, but you’d expect them to be higher than £15 million and £18.5 million, respectively.

3 Jose Sa

Portuguese goalkeeper Jose Sa is now in his sixth season with the club, but it is “likely” to be his last.

Sa was in talks to join rival Premier League club Nottingham Forest as recently as the January transfer window, so a similar move could take place in the summer.

Last year, journalist Alan Nixon stated that Wolves had set a £20 million asking price for their number one amid interest from Turkish club Galatasaray.

4 Hwang Hee-chan

Hwang Hee-chan, like Sa, is in his fifth and probably final season with Wolves.

The South Korean forward’s loan move was made permanent for £14 million in 2022. Since being a permanent member of the Wolves squad, Hwang has scored 22 goals in 115 games.

Last summer, The Sun reported that Crystal Palace were investigating a loan transfer for him, but The Athletic believe Wolves could now cash in on the 30-year-old.

He is still under contract until 2028, with an option for an additional 12 months.

5 David Moller Wolfe

The most recent addition to the list is Norwegian left-back David Moller Wolfe, who signed for about £10 million last summer.

The 23-year-old was then-manager Vitor Pereira’s third signing of the window, following the signings of Jhon Arias and Fer Lopez, both of whom have since moved permanently or on loan.

Wolves rejected a £6.9 million offer from Italian heavyweights Roma for Wolfe in January, deeming it insufficient.

6 Jackson Tchatchoua

Jackson Tchatchoua, who was part of the Wolves’ disastrous recruitment campaign last summer, is expected to leave the club this summer.

It’s fair to say that Serie A’s ‘fastest player’ hasn’t lived up to the hype following his move from Hellas Verona.

Tchatchoua was replaced at halftime in the club’s most recent match against Wolves, and it appears that the fanbase has run out of patience with him.

7 Tolu Arokodare

Many people are already aware of Arokodare’s planned summer departure. This is primarily because the £23 million striker was believed to be the aggressor in a dressing room ‘bust-up’ with teammate Mateus Mane earlier this month.

On the pitch, the Nigerian has six goals in 33 games across all competitions this season.

Despite having four years left on his contract, his time at Molineux appears to be up after the season ends. Following Arokodare’s outburst, it’s possible that the club will offer him a reduced price.

8 Marshall Munetsi

Marshall Munetsi, a Zimbabwean midfielder, completed a loan move to Paris FC for the remainder of the season in January.

Although the Ligue 1 club has no option to buy him later, it’s unlikely he’ll ever play for Wolves again.

The reported reason Edwards and the club allowed Munetsi go in the winter window was that he didn’t fit well into the head coach’s system, and that stance is unlikely to change in the Championship.

9Nasser Djiga

Nasser Djiga, who is now on loan at Rangers, is another player for whom Wolves would like to “recoup” a transfer fee.

Football Insider reported in March that the Glasgow club may struggle to sign Djiga on a permanent basis due to Wolves’ asking price.

Djiga signed for Wolves for an estimated £10 million, and despite having a contract until 2030, he only appeared six times last season before going to Ibrox.
