Lisandro Martinez won’t be ready for this weekend, but Bruno Fernandes’ boost for Manchester United comes just in time.
In Sunday’s match against Arsenal, Bruno Fernandes is expected to start for Manchester United.
The captain of United is among a long list of players who are battling to be fit for Sunday’s visit by the Premier League leaders to Old Trafford. The captain missed the humiliating loss at Crystal Palace the last time out due to an injury.
Both Fernandes and Scott McTominay appear likely to return from brief layoffs when the Gunners visit town, Erik ten Hag confirmed on Friday.
“There are some players returning, as Bruce and Scott McTominay were on the [training] pitch,” he informed the press.
Lisandro Martinez and Marcus Rashford’s return to training have also been announced by United.
However, Martinez will need time to heal from a calf issue, so only Rashford is probably going to be fit to start for Arsenal.
Harry Maguire was recently ruled out due to a leg muscle complaint, and Luke Shaw has experienced a “setback.” Victor Lindelof, Raphael Varane, and Willy Kambwala have not yet participated in team workouts.
With only one senior outfield player, Sofyan Amrabat, sitting on the bench in the defeat to Palace, it comes at a time when United is in desperate need of reinforcements. Despite their teammates’ poor form, neither the Moroccan nor Amad Diallo seem to be trusted by the manager to start games at this time.
Their problems have left a huge void in defense, which Jonny Evans and Casemiro are trying to fill. If Amrabat isn’t brought in, Evans and Casemiro may find it difficult to play against Arsenal.
Mason Mount has recently joined the Red Devils’ injury list following a “very unlucky” injury that could put an early end to his Manchester debut campaign.
