“Yeah the offer arrived late and I’m keen to go, I’ll bid farewell to our fans on weekend”- Arsenal star Jorginho has made a decision over his future as the midfielder received an £8.5m offer to leave Arsenal

The offer was received belatedly, and I am eager to proceed; I will bid farewell to our fans this weekend.- Arsenal midfielder Jorginho has decided on his future after receiving an £8.5 million offer to depart from the club.

Jorginho has made a decision following an £8.5 million offer to depart from Arsenal.

Arsenal midfielder Jorginho has declined an offer from Flamengo, and discussions on a potential transfer have stalled.

Jorginho, 33, has accumulated 70 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal since his transfer from Chelsea, the club’s fierce rivals, in 2023.

During that period, Jorginho has solidified his status as one of Mikel Arteta’s most reliable squad members and an indispensable leader in the locker room.

Jorginho has faced difficulties securing consistent playing time this season, with only six starts in the Premier League, and it is claimed that the Italy international has been increasingly disgruntled with his limited position in north London.

Palmeiras has exhibited significant interest in recent weeks; however, no formal proposal has been presented by the Brazilian club at this juncture.

Flamengo is seen as a primary candidate for Jorginho’s signing; nevertheless, Globo Esporte reports that negotiations are now ‘at a stalemate’ and the two parties are ‘far from reaching an agreement.’

The report asserts that Flamengo proposed a three-year contract to Jorginho valued at approximately €10 million (£8.5 million). Nevertheless, the Brazil-born Euro 2020 champion is requesting a remuneration approximating €13 million (£11 million) for that duration.

Due to the lack of movement in conversations over the past few days, Jorginho has not yet broached the subject of an early release with Arsenal in January.

The Gunners remain optimistic about Jorginho signing another contract extension, as head coach Arteta is eager for the deep-lying playmaker to prolong his tenure.

Arsenal has allegedly finalised an agreement for a suitable successor in Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi, while Jorginho’s primary objective is to attain consistent playing time in preparation for Italy’s 2026 World Cup campaign.

“I prefer not to engage in these discussions at this time,” Arteta replied when questioned about the future of Arsenal midfielders Jorginho and Thomas Partey at the beginning of January.

‘I want to have these conversations much later because the focus has to be on what we have to do in the season.

‘They can comprehend the intentions and then we can see what we can do.

‘But it’s two players that I am very, very happy with. They are such a value in the squad.

‘I want to maintain them as well with the appropriate mental frame, because the most important part of the season is coming now.’
