Xabi Alonso introduces wild new Real Madrid training method after drawing with Al Hilal and the club has never used it before

Since joining Real Madrid, the former Bayer Leverkusen manager has made some significant changes.

After Real Madrid’s tie with Al Hilal, Xabi Alonso was compelled to implement some intriguing new technology in the team’s training.

The inaugural year of the competition’s new 32-team structure, the Club World Cup, began across the United States just weeks after the 2024–25 season ended.

At Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium, La Liga powerhouse Real Madrid took on Saudi Pro League team Al Hilal in the competition’s opening game.

After giving up a penalty kick by former Wolves star Ruben Neves, Real Madrid drew the game even though they had taken the lead through youthful attacker Gonzala Garcia, who replaced an injured Kylian Mbappe.

Following the game, it was disclosed that Alonso, the new manager of Real Madrid, had reenergised training with some new technology in preparation for their second game.

Real Madrid will probably need to defeat Mexican team Pachuca in their game on Sunday at the Bank of America Stadium if they want to increase their chances of making it to the round of 16.

Additionally, Alonso has chosen to use drones to film his players’ training footage so that it can be viewed and examined later, ensuring that his team is as prepared as possible.

Drones were spotted during Real Madrid’s training session in West Palm Beach on Thursday, according to a report from Spanish publication Marca. This is the first time the club has deployed such technology.

Similar to this, Alonso never used drones while practicing at his former team, Bayer Leverkusen. Instead, he used a number of cameras that were positioned above the training area to capture training sessions.

Although the club’s youth players and replacements for the match against Al Hilal participated in Thursday’s training, it is unclear if drones will be used for the starting XI’s workout. Instead, they worked out at the gym.

At the very least, it demonstrates how seriously Real Madrid is taking the Club World Cup this summer, even though it is uncertain if these drones will continue to be a regular feature of their training sessions under the Spanish manager.
