Wrexham set to move for ex-Man Utd player as Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney target huge transfer

As Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney look to make a significant acquisition, Wrexham are preparing to make a remarkable free move for a player who formerly played for Manchester United.

Wrexham has been promoted to the next level in each of the last two seasons, and the Welsh club is hoping to achieve a third consecutive promotion once again this year.

They have 78 points on the board, which places them in second position in the League One rankings at the moment.

With the addition of attackers Sam Smith and Jay Rodriguez, Wrexham has continued to make progress since the beginning of the year of January.

With an unknown cost, Smith, who is 26 years old, joined from Reading, the club’s opponents. It is believed that this is a historic transaction for the club.

Rodriguez, who is 35 years old, also went from Burnley to another club for an unknown price until the conclusion of the 2025–2026 season.

Additionally, Wrexham intends to strengthen their squad throughout the summer, particularly in the event that they earn a berth in the Championship for the following season.

Consequently,

Wrexham are reportedly interested in recruiting Rangers’ Tom Lawrence, who was promoted from the junior academy of Manchester United. The Daily Mail reports that Wrexham are interested in signing Lawrence.

The current deal that Lawrence is under will expire at the conclusion of the current season, and according to the source, he is ‘opening the door’ to the possibility of leaving the team as a free agent this approaching summer.

There are a number of teams in the United Kingdom and other countries that are keeping an eye on his condition. One of these clubs is the side that is led by Reynolds and McElhenney, who are willing to make a “ambitious” attempt to bring the forward who was born in Wrexham to the Racecourse Ground.

In addition, clubs from the Championships are showing interest in Lawrence. Burnley, Coventry City, West Brom, Middlesbrough, and Blackburn Rovers are all keeping an eye on the midfielder, who has participated in approximately 300 matches in England’s second division.

Additional clubs in Europe who are interested include Olympiacos, PAOK, and Besiktas, all of which are managed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Further, Lawrence has not ruled out the possibility of extending his stay with the Rangers.

After signing with Rangers in the summer of 2022, the player, who is now 31 years old, has scored 11 goals for the Scottish club in a total of 65 matches across all competitions as of that time.

Following his graduation from the youth program of Manchester United, he participated in one game for the Old Trafford club. In the time that he was on the roster, he was able to take advantage of a number of loan stints away from the Red Devils.

In the summer of 2017, the Welshman signed a permanent contract with Derby County, after having previously played for Carlisle United, Yeovil Town, Leicester City, Rotherham United, Blackburn Rovers, Cardiff City, and Ipswich Town. After that, he moved to Scotland.
