In light of the fact that his son has continued to be absent from the team, the father of a Wrexham star has expressed his dissatisfaction with the club’s January business.
During the transfer window that took place in January, Wrexham succeeded in making a remarkable double acquisition of Sam Smith and Jay Rodriguez.
For a club-record amount of two million pounds, Smith made the move from Reading to the Racecourse outfit, and Rodriguez was acquired from Burnley for an amount that has not been disclosed.
Ollie Palmer’s time in the squad has been reduced as a result of the acquisition of the two forwards. Since the winter signings, he has not even received a single minute of playing time and has not even been on the bench.
However, Smith and Rodriguez have only scored one goal for Wrexham between them. Smith scored the goal in his team’s 2-0 victory over Northampton approximately one month ago. Rodriguez has not scored a goal for Wrexham.
In contrast, Palmer has only ever appeared as a substitute in a match that was part of the English Football League Trophy contest.
Through a post on social media, his father has made it known that he is unhappy with the amount of money that Wrexham has spent.
Additionally, he expressed to manager Phil Parkinson that he should “swallow his pride” and play his son.
Wrexham, who were eliminated from the EFL Trophy a month ago, defeated Bolton in a match that ended in a scoreless draw at their own stadium. Andy Palmer’s outburst came after the match.
They could have tied Wycombe for first place in the league with a point, but they were defeated by Birmingham City by a score of 1-0.
After Smith and Rodriguez were taken out of the game in the 78th minute of their League One match against Bolton, Jack Marriott and Steven Fletcher were brought into the game to substitute for them.
Andy wrote in another tweet, “They were a good buy,” and he accompanied his statement with a number of emojis depicting people thinking.
The following is what he said after the result was announced: “PP (Phil Parkinson) and SP (Steve Parkin) need to swallow their pride.” Be sure to take a look at the team that they had before the holiday season! Simply put, that team is responsible for getting them to where they are now. Perhaps a Smith and Palmer in the front row.”
Palmer, who was a member of the Wrexham team that won back-to-back promotions, had been linked with a move away from the Welsh team during the transfer window in January, but he remained at the club after the market closed. Palmer was considered to be a potential departure from the Welsh team.
