Paris Saint-Germain advanced to the quarterfinals of the Champions League on Tuesday night thanks in part to Ousmane Dembele. The crucial goal that tied the Round of 16 match against Liverpool on aggregate was scored by the in-form winger. Then, during the shootout, he converted one of the spot-kicks.
And what a punishment it was. Having a left foot by nature, Dembele is shaped to shoot on his preferred side before bending his run and putting a powerful right-footed strike past Alisson Becker, who is now regarded as the best custodian in the world.

Why Dembele Shoots With Weaker Right Foot
The Frenchman is naturally left-footed
When Dembele was at Stade Rennais, it was first observed that he preferred to take penalties with his right foot. The attacker’s succinct but charming response to the question was that he liked to shoot with his weaker side since it allowed him to produce more power.

After joining Barcelona in 2017, the French player went into greater detail about this, stating:
“I have ambidexterity. The left foot is my preferred dribble, but I “like shooting with my right foot.”
The ability to utilise both the left and right hands equally well is known as ambidexterity. This unusual ability can be acquired naturally or with practice. This is typically seen when people can write or use silverware with both hands, but Dembele’s ability to do so has made him an even more unpredictable player because he can dribble down the right or cut in on the left with equally devastating results.
PSG Now Among Champions League Favourites
Dembele and co. aiming to turn PSG into European champions
Dembele and his PSG colleagues will now play in the Champions League quarterfinals against either Club Brugge or Aston Villa. Although they have come very close on multiple occasions in the last ten years, the French team has never been able to win Europe’s most prestigious competition. They got the closest in 2020, when they made it to the final for the first time but lost to Bayern Munich 1-0.
In former seasons, PSG has fielded more star-studded lineups, most notably when they featured a formidable front three made up of Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappe. However, this season, they finally seem to have found a team that can contend. The Parisians are undoubtedly one of the favourites to win the European Cup this year, led by the outstanding Luis Enrique.
