Why Chelsea haven’t qualified for the next Club World Cup despite winning final but losers PSG have

Chelsea’s spot has not been assured.

Even though Chelsea won the first Club World Cup after the structure was changed, runners-up PSG have already earned a spot in the 2029 competition.

Cole Palmer was the standout of Enzo Maresca’s team, which stunned the world with a convincing victory over Champions League winners PSG.

Palmer’s magnificent brace and new acquisition Joao Pedro’s precise chip gave the Premier League team a 3-0 lead in the first half.

In the second half, PSG added insult to injury as midfielder Joao Neves was sent off right away for pulling Marc Cucurella’s hair.

Chelsea’s victory has earned them an incredible $125 million in prize money, despite the fact that many supporters have downplayed the significance of the Club World Cup.

Strangely enough, though, the London club does not receive a spot in the upcoming competition.

The reasons behind Chelsea’s exclusion from the upcoming Club World Cup
At the upcoming Club World Cup, 32 spots are available, and the distribution is made as evenly as possible among the continents.

AFC receives four spaces, CAF four spots, CONCACAF four spots, OFC one spot, UEFA twelve spots, and CONMEBOL six spots based on FIFA rankings.

Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami is participating in this year’s edition since the host country will also be given a spot.

Chelsea must, however, earn a berth among UEFA’s 12 clubs because the real champions of the Club World Cup do not have a spot guaranteed.

The four Champions League champions from before the competition occupy the 14 spots, therefore even if PSG lost to Chelsea, they are already guaranteed to finish as runners-up in 2029.

Chelsea is now ranked 14th in the UEFA rankings, which will be used to fill the remaining spaces once the Champions League clubs have been included.
