A statement made by Marcus Rashford in response to a controversial comment made by Jadon Sancho on his Instagram post following his debut with Aston Villa has been made public.
After coming off the bench during the FA Cup fourth round victory over Spurs on Sunday night, Rashford made his debut wearing the claret and blue colours for the first time.
The 27-year-old player made his first appearance on the pitch since the middle of December. Prior to that, Ruben Amorim had completely barred him from playing for Manchester United. Amorim cited problems with the player’s level of effort and performance in training as the reason for his decision.
Rashford was rumoured to be interested in playing for a number of clubs, including AC Milan and Barcelona; however, Villa was able to draft the England international player late in the transfer window and give him the No. 9 shirt.
However, Villa has the option to purchase Rashford permanently for a fee of forty million pounds, despite the fact that he has signed a loan agreement initially.
As Rashford entered the fray with fellow new signing Marco Asensio, his cameo on Sunday was met with hugs and cheers from Villa fans. Rashford appeared to be in good shape and had a point to prove for himself after entering the fray.
Following the conclusion of the game, Rashford posted a number of photographs on Instagram that he had taken during the game, along with the following caption: “Thank you for the warm welcome.” Bravo to the team’s performance!”
The one-word message from Sancho was the one that caused the most uproar, despite the fact that his post was flooded with comments from former teammates and current colleagues.
Simply stating “Freedom!” was all that Sancho wrote in the comments section.
Following a post on social media in which he refuted claims made by the Dutchman, the former Borussia Dortmund player was publicly shunned by Erik ten Hag at United. This was done in response to the statements made by the Dutchman.
As a result of his refusal to apologise, he was forced to train and eat on his own. He then returned for a brief period of time during the preseason before being loaned out to Chelsea, who are obligated to purchase him for approximately twenty-five million pounds.
The reaction of Rashford to the comment made by Sancho
However, despite the fact that Rashford is friends with Sancho, the Daily Mail reports that the England international player is not particularly well pleased with the remark.
There are indications that Rashford “doesn’t appreciate being dragged into his former United and England team-mate’s apparent beef with the club,” according to the outlet, which cited sources from Rashford’s camp in its article.
He has not changed his mind about maintaining a cordial relationship with his boyhood club and the fans who have been cheering him on ever since he made his breakthrough in 2015.
Despite the fact that Sancho has left the WhatsApp group for players, he is still technically a member of the United team. Furthermore, the club is paying him £50,000 of his rumoured £250,000-a-week wage at Chelsea, where he has scored twice and provided two assists.
The same public relations firm that handles the representation of Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane, and Mason Mount also handles the representation of Joshua Sancho and Rashford.
On Saturday, when Villa Park plays host to Ipswich Town, Rashford gets the opportunity to make his debut for the full Villa team.
