What Lamine Yamal did immediately after securing Barcelona the La Liga title speaks volumes

During the festivities, Lamine Yamal shared a little bit about himself after scoring the goal that gave Barcelona a domestic treble.

Barcelona won La Liga at RCDE Stadium for the second time in three seasons after defeating city rivals Espanyol.

When Xavi’s Barca defeated Espanyol 4–2 at home in 2023, everyone gathered in the centre circle to celebrate.

The home crowd responded with rage. Before an unpleasant verbal altercation broke out, several people entered the pitch and chased the once-ecstatic Barcelona players down the tunnel.

Real Madrid’s title ambitions were ended on Thursday by Yamal and Barcelona defeating ten-man Espanyol, and head coach Hansi Flick made it plain that he didn’t want the events that happened at the stadium two years ago to happen again.

Yamal, a 17-year-old talent who is now fully at the top of his game, led the way, and Flick largely got his wish.

Barca Universal wrote, “Hansi Flick demanded the players to not celebrate on the Espanyol pitch,” on X, the former Twitter platform.

“Only Lamine Yamal did as he said. Following the final whistle, the remaining members of the squad carried on with their festivities.

According to a another fan testimony, “they all followed, just that there was a fight on the pitch which kept them.”

“Na Lamine Yamal definitely needed the toilet,” a fan once joked.

“The upcoming game will have an entirely different 11… Another user predicted, “You listen to what Flick says.”

As Barcelona defeated their rivals 2-0 to win the championship, Yamal was once again the standout player.

Early in the second half, he scored another brilliant solo goal to put the Blaugrana ahead before Leandro Cabrera was sent off for the home team.

The teen has had an incredible season, finishing with eight goals and thirteen assists in 33 La Liga games, which is a huge improvement over the previous campaign in both categories.

With the addition of the Spanish championship to his two Bundesliga victories with Bayern Munich, Flick has now won the league title in two nations.

In 2019–20, he defeated Paris Saint-Germain in a Champions League final that was played behind closed doors to win the treble with Bayern.

Deep into Espanyol’s injury time, Fermin Lopez added the assurance of a second goal.
