Wednesday takeover latest – David Storch’s view on completing the deal revealed, as uncertainty remains over James Bord.

James Bord remains Sheffield Wednesday’s favored bidder, although fellow interested party David Storch has issued a statement.

The Owls were demoted to League One last Sunday after a 2-1 loss to local rivals Sheffield United.

Meanwhile, supporters continue to wait for a takeover while their club remains in administration, with Kris Wigfield admitting that Wednesday is losing £1 million per month.

The Hillsborough club cannot proceed until a takeover is completed, with key issues, like as the future of manager Henrik Pedersen, having to be resolved.

The David Storch bid team has revealed whether they are still interested in taking up Sheffield Wednesday, as James Bord remains the favored bidder.

Kevin Beadell, Wednesday’s Head of Recruitment, has departed the South Yorkshire club, and preferred bidder Bord intends to take his own method to recruitment if he completes his purchase.

Meanwhile, BBC Radio Sheffield’s Rob Staton took to X on Tuesday to deliver a statement shared with him by the Storch bid team: “We are still immensely excited about the chance at Sheffield Wednesday and seeing the club return to its previous glory. We wish the favored bidder success in the process, but are prepared to step in if the chance arises again.”We know everyone is disappointed with the relegation, but we wish the club well as they finish the current season.”

Bord is being sued by his former business partner, Jonathan Cohen, over an investment in Spanish second-tier club Cordoba, which could jeopardize his potential Owls acquisition.

David Storch’s remarks should soothe Sheffield Wednesday supporters.

While Wednesday’s favored bidder is now being sued by his former business partner, this is not the only potential impediment to his purchase.

The EFL is investigating whether Bord’s acquisition would be predominantly funded by gambling and crypto-gaming enterprises, as they determine whether he should pass their Owners’ and Directors’ Test.

If the American acquisition is not completed by May, the Independent Football Regulator, not the EFL, will be responsible for ratifying Wednesday’s transaction.

Meanwhile, although suspicions about Bord have been raised, Owls fans should be relieved that the Storch bid team has openly said that they are still interested in owning the South Yorkshire club.

Former Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri demonstrated how much damage one reckless man can inflict on a football club, highlighting why the EFL and Independent Football Regulator’s tests are not simple.

The Thai billionaire brought Hillsborough into administration after routinely failing to pay player and staff wages on time, and the points deductions imposed on the Owls as a result of his financial mismanagement were to blame for their relegation in February.

Bord’s Wednesday takeover might be finished in six weeks, indicating that there is light at the end of the tunnel for long-time supporters.

However, given some questions about Bord’s bid, fans will be relieved that Storch remains interested in purchasing the S6 side.
