Prior to Saturday’s Premier League matchup between Manchester United and Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, both Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund have returned to the team’s training.
Due to a hamstring injury he sustained during his first preseason game against Arsenal, Hojlund has not been available for the Red Devils for the opening part of the season.
Hojlund, who played for Denmark at Euro 2024, scored early in the Gunners match, but he was eventually forced from the pitch because of a muscle problem.
The encounter against Southampton last weekend was too soon for the 21-year-old, who scored 16 goals in his first season at Old Trafford.
Hojlund did not participate in Tuesday night’s EFL Cup match against Barnsley, instead opting to watch as his team won 7-0 to go to the next round.
Hojlund and Mount resume training with Man United
But on Wednesday, the striker worked out with the full squad, raising hopes that he would be eligible for Saturday’s Premier League matchup against Palace.
However, Mount appears to be in the running to face the Eagles as well. The Englishman returned from his muscle injury against Brighton & Hove Albion earlier than anticipated.
After being forced off the field during the break during Chelsea’s match against Brighton on August 24, the former playmaker for Chelsea has missed the team’s last three games across all competitions.
Hojlund and Mount are unlikely to start against Palace, although they both might be substituted off the field as the Red Devils attempt to win three straight games across all categories.
