Arsenal have issued a statement following the tragic death of Liverpool and Portugal forward Diogo Jota at the age of 28. He and his 26-year-old brother Andre Silva, who also tragically died, were apparently engaged in a road traffic accident in Spain early Thursday morning.
Arsenal posted on their X page, “The thoughts of everyone at Arsenal are with Diogo’s family, friends, and everyone associated with Liverpool Football Club.” “Rest in peace, Diogo.”
It follows Liverpool’s own statement, which was published on their official website. It reads: “Liverpool Football Club is devastated by the tragic death of Diogo Jota.”
“The club has been notified that the 28-year-old died in a road traffic accident in Spain, together with his brother Andre.
“Liverpool FC will make no further comment at this time and ask that the privacy of Diogo and Andre’s family, friends, teammates, and club personnel be respected as they try to cope with an incomprehensible tragedy.
“We will continue to provide them with our full support.”
