This summer, Gyokeres’ future has been a hot topic of conversation, and a definitive conclusion is finally in sight.
According to a recent story, Viktor Gyokeres informed friends and family of the club he would be joining this summer and then declined a sizable offer.
The striker for Sporting Lisbon has been involved in a growing transfer drama that has accelerated in recent weeks.
Gyokeres scored 54 goals throughout all competitions in the 2024–25 season, making it all but inevitable that he will depart Portugal this summer.
It was surprising how the matter has developed subsequently, with Sporting president Frederico Varandas accusing Gyokeres’ group of ‘blackmail’ due to the Swede’s agent’s assertions that a gentleman’s agreement existed, according to which he would be sold for a predetermined sum.
Juventus has expressed interest in the 27-year-old striker, who has been linked to transfers to Arsenal, Manchester United, and Chelsea.
Additionally, Gyokeres has rejected a sizable contract offer to join Juventus this summer, according to Correire dello Sport.
Despite being offered €13 million a year (€250,000 a week), he is said to have made it clear to Juventus that he has no interest in playing in Serie A next season.
Gyokeres has instead hinted that he plans to sign with a Premier League team.
“The Swede has told family and friends that he ‘expects’ to join Arsenal this summer,” according to Alex Crook of TalkSPORT.
Since Kai Havertz is now the only natural choice for the position, the Gunners are on the market for a striker. Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig has also been linked to the team.
Crook clarified: “Obviously, Manchester United is also interested in signing him. There is that relationship with Ruben Amorim that was always there.
“However, Arsenal can provide Champions League play and possibly a chance to win the championship the next year.
However, Sporting will play hardball. Gyokeres’ agent has implied that the club and he had a gentleman’s agreement that allowed him to depart for £60 million, which has caused friction between the two parties. I believe they are seeking anything closer to £80 million.
