In a recent interview, Gyokeres made some intriguing remarks on Amorim.
In a recently released interview, Viktor Gyokeres showed his love for Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim.
After months of rumors, it looks like the Sweden international will depart Sporting CP. Arsenal is vying for the signing of the prolific striker before the new season begins, so it has been a long transfer drama to say the least.
As per Sky Sports, there is currently no club-to-club agreement; nevertheless, there is ‘an obvious willingness from all parties to get a deal done’ following the 27-year-old’s declaration of his wish to join.
The announcement follows Manchester United’s first attempt to acquire the player through middlemen.
United is looking for a goal striker this summer as they continue to improve under Ruben Amorim after a poor season in which they only scored 44 goals in 38 Premier League games.
Despite publicly praising his old boss in a recent interview with France Football magazine, Gyokeres doesn’t seem to be that kind of guy.
The former striker for Coventry City and Brighton claimed he “couldn’t thank Amorim” enough for changing his style of play.
“For the first time in 71 years, we won two titles in a row. It’s a remarkable accomplishment, and Ruben Amorim undoubtedly contributed significantly to it,” he stated. “I am really grateful to him. I was ideal for the kind of play we did under his direction.
Gyokeres also addressed Amorim’s departure from Sporting abruptly, stating that there were “no hard feelings” against the Portuguese coach after his choice to join United in November.
He went on to say, “It was a shock,” “I have never witnessed a manager quit in the middle of a season when things were going great. Although it was unexpected, I completely respect his choice.

In contrast, Gyokeres is prepared to make a considerable sacrifice in order to join Arsenal.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Swede has agreed to forfeit €2 million of his pay to help negotiate between Sporting and Arsenal. He asserts that Sporting is demanding a bigger amount than Arsenal has offered.
Manchester United is trying to find a striker elsewhere.
Jamie Vardy, a former striker for Leicester City, was one of several free agents offered to Manchester United, along with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Callum Wilson, according to a story published by The Athletic on Tuesday.
Hugo Ekitike, a striker for Eintracht Frankfurt, was rumored to be a target for United as they looked into the terms of a possible deal.
Ekitike is currently one of the most sought-after strikers in international football. He helped the Bundesliga team qualify for the Champions League last season with 22 goals and 13 assists.
