This summer, a lot of teams are interested in Viktor Gyokeres, but Sporting won’t give him away for nothing.
Viktor Gyokeres has reacted furiously to Sporting’s asking price after a fresh proposal for the Swedish striker.
With an incredible 97 goals in 102 games since joining Sporting from Coventry City, Gyokeres has quickly established himself as one of the most sought-after strikers in the world of football.
After Sporting was demoted to the Primeira Liga and Taca de Portugal, Gyokeres appears to have been given permission to move on to new chances through a gentleman’s agreement.
The two teams most often linked to the 27-year-old former Brighton & Hove Albion striker are Manchester United and Arsenal.
However, Gyokeres is “furious” and feels the club is not fulfilling their half of the agreement, according to a recent piece from the Portuguese daily Record that quoted persons close to the player.
Gyokeres thought he could leave if a club gave him €60 million plus €10 million in performance-related bonuses and add-ons, rather than his £84 million (€100 million) release clause.
However, it appears that Sporting’s upper management has betrayed their word and is demanding more for their star, much to his dismay.
Gyokeres responded by removing Sporting’s name from his Instagram bio, but he also removed all references to Sweden and Nike.
Man United approaches Viktor Gyokeres.
In order to give United a clear run for Gyokeres, Sky Sports reports that United has now made an initial proposal and Arsenal appears to have turned their attention to RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko.
After Rasmus Hojlund was fired and Liam Delap joined the team for £30 million, United reportedly reached out to Chelsea through intermediaries and is “exploring the conditions” of a deal for Gyokeres, who played for Ruben Amorim at the Jose Alvalade Stadium.
L’Equipe claims that Gyokeres, who isn’t particularly interested in moving, turned down a generous salary offer of €35 million from Saudi Pro League team Al Hilal.
Fabrizio Romano, a transfer analyst, has offered his thoughts on the recent situation involving Gyokeres and United, stating that he thinks a deal would have been finalized had they won the Europa League.
“For Man United, we have to see financially how they can make it happen,” he stated on his YouTube page.
“I’m 99 percent certain that they were going to finalize the [Viktor] Gyokeres transaction swiftly because of Champions League football. That, I believe, was the sensation. Then, no football in the Champions League.
“It’s more difficult financially because they lost the final in Bilbao. However, Man United summoned Viktor Gyokeres once more, so we’ll have to see if they can pull it off. However, there were new relationships with the player’s representatives.
