In the next few days, the Sporting striker is anticipated to join Arsenal.
Viktor Gyokeres’ agent has taken a significant choice regarding the transfer, and a recent article has disclosed the specifics of the clauses that will be included in his contract with Arsenal.
It seems that a deal to seal Sporting sensation Gyokeres’ move may finally be close after more than a month of rumors linking him to Arsenal.
Since the transfer market began in early June, the Swedish international has been linked to a number of teams; however, it now seems like Arsenal has won the battle to sign him.
The largest obstacle to Gyokeres moving to the Emirates during the entire transfer story was Sporting’s demands for payment and valuation, with club president Frederico Varandas voicing their expectations.
However, a recent report has disclosed the terms that would be included in Gyokere’s new contract with Arsenal and the sacrifices his agency made to finalize the deal, suggesting that all the specifics are currently being worked out.
Varandas made it plain that Hasan Cetinkaya, the player’s agent, would need to consent to ignore a clause that would see him make a tidy profit if Sporting were to even entertain a deal below the reputed €100 million (£85.1 million) release clause in his contract.
Gyokeres joined Sporting from Coventry City two years ago for £20 million, and it is thought that Cetinkaya negotiated an agreement that would have paid him 10% of any rejected offer over €60 million.
However, while Arsenal and Sporting work out a reasonable transfer fee, Cetinkaya has consented not to activate this clause, according to a recent report from the Portuguese publication O Jogo.
According to the article, this sum is currently estimated to be €63.5 million (£55 million), with an additional €10 million (£8.6 million) in bonuses.
Ten clauses in Gyokeres’ Arsenal contract might be used to obtain any extra bonus money; five of these are reportedly simple to obtain, while the remaining five are more challenging.
If this move goes through, Sporting will have to pay Gyokeres’ old team, Coventry City, €4.35 million (£3.76 million) of the transfer fee because they included a 10% sell-on clause when they sold him in 2023.
