If he signs, the 27-year-old will become one of Arsenal’s most costly acquisitions ever.
Viktor Gyokeres allegedly agreed to personal terms on a five-year contract, making him one of Arsenal’s most paid players.
Following months of rumors about his future, it now seems that Gyokeres is close to departing Sporting after it was revealed that Arsenal is in advanced negotiations with the Portuguese team on a high-profile trade.
The Athletic reports that Gyokeres had prioritized a move to the Gunners for some time because to interest from Manchester United, and that a five-year contract is on the table.
Mikel Arteta and the Arsenal back office, who have been searching for a new No. 9 for weeks, would undoubtedly be making a statement with the acquisition of one of Europe’s best attackers.
So, if Gyokeres joins, how much will he make? According to talkSPORT, the 27-year-old will make £200,000 per week at Arsenal, placing him among the highest paid players at the club.
Only four players will make more than Gyokeres, according to Sportrac; the only first-team players to receive higher compensation are Declan Rice [£240,000], Martin Odegaard [£240,000], Gabriel Jesus [£265,000], and Kai Havertz [£280,000].
If the aforementioned amount is correct, the Swede will make more than Gabriel Martinelli [£180,000], William Saliba [£190,000], and Bukayo Saka [£195,000].
After rejecting an offer from the club of €65 million [£56m] plus €15 million [£12.9m], Sporting has informed Arsenal that they want €70 million [£60.2m] plus €10 million [£8.6m] in add-ons for Gyokeres, according to The Guardian.

There is ‘a serious likelihood’ that Arsenal will close a deal with their ideal transfer target.
According to Spanish publication Cadena SER, the Gunners have “a real possibility” of finalizing a deal with serious Madrid’s Rodrygo amid the current negotiations around Gyokeres, as reported by the Mail.
In order to contend for the Premier League title, Arsenal hopes to acquire a top-tier left winger this summer.
The 24-year-old Brazilian winger will discuss his future with Xabi Alonso once they return from the Club World Cup, according to transfer expert Ben Jacobs, who says they see Rodrygo as a “perfect fit” for the position.
Madrid is “ready to sanction” an exit for about €90 million [£77.3m], but Arsenal is still skeptical if the player is willing to leave the Spanish powerhouses.
“Rodrygo viewed as the dream left-winger target, but comfortable at right-wing, a position he’s often been deployed at Real,” said Jacobs.
Gabriel, an international teammate, was questioned last month about whether he knew anything about Rodrygo’s future.
“I don’t. In reality, I don’t,” he said to the Podpah Podcast. But, of course, I’d like it. In my opinion, Rodrygo is a phenomenon. Arsenal doesn’t have him. He’s a sensation, as I’ve already mentioned. His name comes up frequently. Naturally, if it were up to me.”
