Viktor Gyokeres’ agent holds meeting with Premier League club in new twist hours after Sporting accuse striker of ‘blackmail’

A stunning new investigation has revealed that Viktor Gyokeres’ representative met with a surprise Premier League club just hours after being accused of extortion.

Weeks after the end of the 2024/25 season, it is evident that the transfer controversy involving Sporting sensation Gyokeres will be the greatest story of the summer.

The Swedish international has been heavily linked with leaving his present club, with Manchester United and Juventus reportedly keen.

The striker’s departure from Sporting was largely expected to be reasonably simple, but things took a surprising turn when club president Frederico Varandas issued a statement accusing Gyokeres of extortion.

The situation has taken another turn, with a new rumor claiming that Gyokeres’ representative has traveled to secret meetings with a surprise Premier League side.

After United announced Ruben Amorim as their new manager in November, it appeared that Gyokeres would shortly join him at Old Trafford.

According to CNN pundit Nuno Farinha, this is not the case, as the 27-year-old has always expressed a desire to join Arsenal.

Farinha went on to say that Gyokeres’ agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, spoke with the Gunners on Wednesday because of his desire to join the club in the summer.

Arsenal, like United, is expected to recruit a new striker this summer, with Alexander Isak and Benjamin Sesko both linked with a transfer to the Emirates.

If they overcome United in the hunt for Gyokeres, who scored 54 goals in 52 games last season, it would undoubtedly be viewed as a big coup by Mikel Arteta as he seeks to win the Premier League title.

The meeting comes only hours after Sporting president Varandas responded to rumors that Gyokeres had ‘gone on strike’, informing club officials that he will never play for Sporting again in order to compel them to sell him.

In a stunning statement, the 45-year-old appeared to accuse Gyokeres and his agent of blackmailing the club in order to persuade them to accept a €60 million + €10 million price tag.

“I want to make one thing clear: Sporting has common sense and keeps its word,” he stated through Sebastiao Sousa-Pinto.

“Gyokeres recorded 63 goals and 10 assists. Fantastic performance. Certainly one of the best players to ever play on Portuguese soil. Sporting will not demand the provision.

“Now, Sporting will not take blackmail or insults. One thing is certain: Sporting will not accept 60 million plus ten. As of today, Sporting have not received any proposals for Gyokeres.
