Following Saturday’s match, manager Mikel Arteta revealed that the midfield pair might not play in Wednesday’s pivotal match at the Santiago Bernabéu, where Arsenal hopes to maintain their 3-0 lead from the first leg.
Partey and Jorginho have now added their names to the growing list of concerns surrounding Ben White, who is already doubtful due to injury.
During the news conference following the game, Arteta stated,
We had to remove Thomas even though we didn’t think he would have any problems. It was also unexpected when Jorginho entered the game; we ended up with ten men at the end.
He clarified that Partey was discontinued to prevent additional risk after experiencing some discomfort.
“We’re not sure yet,” Arteta said in response to a question regarding the severity of the injury. The medical team will examine him shortly; I haven’t spoken to them yet.
Regarding Jorginho’s health, Arteta wrote, “He mentioned having trouble breathing, possibly because of a rib issue.” Since that is out of the ordinary for him, there might be a significant problem.
Additionally, Arteta stated that Ben White was not healthy enough to be included in the team for the Brentford game and is still doubtful for the forthcoming European meeting.
Dani Ceballos has returned to full fitness, which is fantastic news for Real Madrid ahead of the match. It is anticipated that the midfield player, who has been out since February, would be able to play against his old team on Wednesday.
