UEFA told to take immediate action after ‘disgraceful’ incident involving Scott McTominay vs Greece

After fans witnessed a contentious incident involving Scott McTominay during Scotland’s Nations League match, they have demanded that the European Union Football Association (UEFA) take action.

A night filled with exciting international football took place on Thursday evening, when the first legs of the Nations League play-offs and quarter-finals got underway.

Fans of Scotland were ecstatic when their team defeated Greece by a score of 1-0 away from home. Fans of England and Wales, on the other hand, will have to wait until this weekend to watch their respective countries compete.

On the other hand, the match was not devoid of controversy, as supporters have taken to social media to demand that the European Union Football Association (UEFA) take immediate action after observing a “disgraceful” moment involving Scott McTominay.

Lazaros Rota, a Greek defender, committed a foul on Scott McTominay inside the penalty area, which resulted in a penalty kick being awarded to Scotland. This gave Scotland the opportunity to take the lead near the end of the first half.

After winning the penalty kick, the former Manchester United player took it himself, calmly found the back of the net, and put his team ahead in the match. He was a star player for Manchester United.

On the other hand, there were some fans who were dissatisfied with the situation because they observed that the home fans attempted to distract the midfielder by shining bright lasers in his eyes before he took the penalty.

One of the fans, in response to the incident, posed the following question: “Was it just me, or did anyone else see the green laser lights on McTominay’s body and face before he started taking the penalty?” It would be a disgrace if that were the case; the European Union Football Association ought to step in.

Another person chimed in, saying, “Scott McTominay was the epitome of cool when he slotted away that penalty with a laser shining full on in his face.” This is a dirty trick from the fans of Greece.

“Get it right up ye, laser pointing gits!” one of them joked among themselves.

A commentator for the BBC named Steven Naismith also offered his thoughts on the incident, stating that “the laser pens are brought out frequently there too, so Scotty was probably used to it.”

It was enough to put The Tartan Army ahead in the two-leg tie, despite the fact that the penalty itself was already controversial due to the fact that replays appeared to show that the Napoli midfielder appeared to stand on the ball and accidentally initiate the contact himself.

Sunday will be the second leg of Scotland’s Nations League match against Greece, which will take place at Hampden Park. Scotland will be hoping to maintain their position in the top tier of the competition by playing Greece.
