Two huge names emerge as ‘contenders’ for Man Utd job after Ruben Amorim ‘doubts’ raised

According to reports, two prominent candidates have emerged as potential candidates for the position of manager at Manchester United in the event that Ruben Amorim decides to leave the club.

Ever since he took over as manager of United in November, Amorim has been unsuccessful in nine of his twenty-one matches across all competitions.

There have been some encouraging signs in a victory away from home against Manchester City in the Premier League and Arsenal in the third round of the FA Cup.

However, United have suffered five defeats at Old Trafford in the Premier League, and Amorim’s playing style has been questioned as a result of these results.

As soon as he arrived at the club, the Portuguese manager confirmed that he would continue to adhere to his tactical principles. This is a policy that he has refused to abandon, even in the face of United’s miserable performance.

Gary Neville was critical of Amorim’s tactical setup during the 1-0 loss to Tottenham on Sunday. In particular, Neville was critical of Amorim’s decision to play Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes in central midfield, despite the fact that they were the only two senior midfielders available.

Earlier this week, the Daily Mail reported that some unnamed United players have ‘doubts’ about Amorim’s strategies. Now, the Spanish publication Fichajes is reporting that three high-profile managers have been identified in the event that the Portuguese manager decides to leave United.

It is also said that they have “begun to evaluate possible alternatives for the dugout” in preparation for the upcoming season; however, there is no indication that they have changed their support for the manager at this point in time.

Zinedine Zidane, Thomas Tuchel, and Mauricio Pochettino are the names that are mentioned in the report as potential replacements.

The report, on the other hand, contradicts what has been reported in the past regarding Amorim’s future. It suggests that club executives are unconcerned about any poor form that may occur between now and the end of the season, with the entire focus being placed on the transfer window that will take place the following summer.

Furthermore, it is improbable that Tuchel, who reportedly declined United once during the summer of last year, would have changed his mind about the role after accepting the England job on an 18-month contract.

During the time that United was looking to replace Erik ten Hag, Pochettino, who is currently the head coach of the United States national team, was reportedly not considered for the position. Zidane was the only one of those three names who was not currently employed.

Due to concerns regarding the Profit and Sustainability (PSR) rules of the Premier League, Manchester United was unable to make significant purchases during the month of January. However, they were successful in acquiring Patrick Dorgu from Lecce for a fee of approximately 36 million pounds.

In terms of departures, the club allowed Antony and Marcus Rashford to leave on loan deals, but they did not replace them. Additionally, Amad’s subsequent ankle injury, which has reportedly caused concern that he will miss the rest of the season, has left Amorim with a painfully limited number of attacking options.

Neville stated that Amorim would require “two or three transfer windows” in order to recruit the appropriate players for his 3-4-3 system. This statement was made during an interview with Sky Sports after the Spurs’ loss.

‘I’m not going to change,’ he said. ‘He’s said that. It is going to be a 3-4-3 format. In the match against Tottenham, it simply did not work.

His problems are understandable to me because he has the players he has, and there are a lot of young players sitting on the bench. However, there must be an alternative mode of operation. It can be dealt with in a variety of different strategies.

“This is a peculiar system, and I am curious as to how long it will take Amorim to find players who are willing to play it. You are making a request for more experts. It is going to be at least two or three transfer windows at the extremely least.
