Two EFL games scheduled for Tuesday have been postponed as the country braces for further severe weather.
Gillingham stated in a statement that their League Two match against Cheltenham Town had been called off owing to ‘a waterlogged surface’.

“An inspection was carried out at 09:30 by EFL officials and, with no sign of the conditions improving, deemed the surface unplayable,” the club’s statement stated.A replacement date for the game will be determined in due course.”
The League One match between Port Vale and AFC Wimbledon has also been rescheduled.Following a pitch inspection, the match official determined that the Vale Park playing surface was unusable due to high volumes of standing water, according to a Port Vale statement.
“This evening’s match against AFC Wimbledon has been postponed.”More information on a new date and tickets will be released in due course.”
The two postponements come after the Met Office issued a warning to the nation about Storm Chandra.
“Storm Chandra will bring a range of hazards to the UK through Monday night and Tuesday,” Met Office chief forecaster Paul Gundersen stated.
“Initially strong winds will impact the Isles of Scilly, western Cornwall and southwest Wales which are still vulnerable after Storm Goretti, gusts of 70 to 80mph are possible here.”Heavy rain poses an additional risk because it falls on saturated ground in Dorset and the southern sections of Devon, Somerset, and Cornwall.”
