Right-back for Liverpool Following his teammate Andrew Robertson’s reaction to being jeered by some Reds supporters on Sunday, Trent Alexander-Arnold has answered.
During Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal on Sunday (May 11), some parts of the Anfield crowd sent out a chorus of jeers at Alexander-Arnold, 26.
Speaking on Sky Sports, former Liverpool players Jamie Carragher and Michael Owen shared their opinions on the jeers, with Carragher stating that “booing one of your own players while they’re playing is not for me.”
“Trent will leave now, it’s his second to last game, maybe his last game, there were people that booed him and you can’t get that out of your head,” Owen stated while reporting the match for Premier League Productions. Despite everything that has transpired in the past 20 years of his life, he has been adored.
“The only thing I can recall now is that, even though I forget a lot, I believe they jeered me at the end, which just makes you feel so horrible about what you did for the club.”
It must be acknowledged that not all of the supporters at Anfield booed Alexander-Arnold; some instead opted to chant the names of Steven Gerrard and Conor Bradley.
Robertson, a 31-year-old left-back for Liverpool, talked to Sky Sports shortly after yesterday’s match to provide his thoughts on the matter.
“I think it’s crucial in these moments that I don’t tell you how to feel and you don’t tell me how to feel about it,” Robertson stated. “There is a lot of emotion surrounding it.”
“I regret losing my best friend in the game. Together, we completed it. He is a fantastic player and a wonderful person. I sincerely believe that he has improved me as a player. He has elevated me to new heights I was unaware of.

“He made a decision and continued to support me during the prosperous years. I believe that everyone can witness his legacy at the club. There will always be the awards he has received and the historical moments he has experienced.
Naturally, it’s an emotional choice, and it hasn’t been simple. He’s made up his mind, and while it’s unpleasant to witness a buddy being jeered, we can’t dictate to others how they should behave.
“I can express my feelings to you; I’m incredibly pleased of what he has accomplished for the team. He is one of my closest friends in the game, and I will miss him as a friend and gamer.
In apparent response, Alexander-Arnold liked Robertson’s next social media post, in which the Scot shared a picture of himself with the words, “It’s been A while,” referring to his first assist of the Premier League season for Cody Gakpo’s first goal.
