Transfer: He didn’t want £500,000 – Mikel Obi reveals why Osimhen didn’t join Chelsea

Former Super Eagles midfielder John Mikel Obi has commented on Victor Osimhen’s unsuccessful transfer to Chelsea this summer.

Mikel Obi asserted on his podcast that the agreement was “extremely, extremely close.”

Nevertheless, “minor complications” caused it to disintegrate at the final moment.

He clarified that Osimhen is not an avaricious footballer, but rather seeks what he rightfully merits.

Mikel Obi stated, “A great deal transpired.” It is widely acknowledged that I participated in efforts to get Osimhen for the club.

I have known the child since he joined the national team.

Victor exhibits no avarice. He was not requesting five hundred thousand pounds or anything of that nature. That statement is false. He only seeks to obtain what he merits.

A player asserting his demands is not an issue.

“We were exceedingly close.” It was hours till completion. However, there were minor difficulties.

“There was insufficient time for the medical examination to be conducted, even if the agreement was finalized.” It was very tardy.

“I am fully aware of our current location, the point at which we halted, and if we resume in January, I am precisely cognisant of our starting point.”
