Since moving to Tottenham in January, Radu Dragusin has struggled to get playing time. His agent has now spoken out about how the player is adjusting to life in north London and his future.
Radu Dragusin’s agent made fun of Ange Postecoglou and made a suggestion that the defender might leave Tottenham this summer if he doesn’t start playing more consistent football.
Dragusin paid £21.5 million to join Spurs from Genoa in January, but he hasn’t had many opportunities since. The 22-year-old has actually only made six Premier League appearances—two of which were starts—and hasn’t appeared in any of their previous five games.
It appears unlikely that he will make it into the first team unless one of Cristian Romero or Micky van de Ven gets hurt or sentenced to suspension. Agent Florin Manea has now expressed worries about Dragusin’s current Spurs circumstances and poked fun at Postecoglou.
Manea stated in an interview with Radio CRC, as cited by CalcioNapoli24: “He needs to be patient because there are two key players in front of him; eventually, he will find space. The manager has frequently expressed his desire to play three at the back because he knows better, but he also gives up a lot of goals to Tottenham.”
Spurs’ chances of making the Champions League have diminished as a result of a slight decline they experienced in the second half of the season following a strong start to the campaign. In addition, Spurs have dropped their previous three games, including a 2-0 loss at Chelsea on Thursday.
Postecoglou has come under fire ever since that game for his strategies and refusal to change up when his go-to approach isn’t working. Manea continued, giving the Australian some advice: “Going with three gives you more assurance that you won’t give up a lot of goals.
“Tottenham concede a lot of goals from set pieces, I think Dragusin will find space in the future because Tottenham need his power.”
After joining Tottenham, Dragusin, who had previously been linked to a move to Bayern Munich, inked a massive six-and-a-half year contract. Manea has made hints that, despite signing a lucrative contract, he might have to leave the team early if his playing time does not increase.
Manea went on, “We’ll have to come up with other ideas if he doesn’t play, but right now I don’t think so because he just moved here in January. Then, in life, you never know—let’s hope not, but you never do.”
After their crushing loss at Chelsea, Postecoglou, who leads his Tottenham team to play Liverpool on Sunday afternoon at Anfield, blasted his players but also accepted responsibility.
“It wasn’t good enough and I have to take responsibility for that, it is on me,” he said to Sky Sports. Since I am the manager and the one who exposed them, it was insufficient. Our performance in the first half indicated that my message wasn’t being understood.”
