Tottenham SACK Ange Postecoglou despite Europa League triumph as clear favourite to replace him emerges

An obvious candidate has already surfaced to succeed Tottenham after the club chose to fire manager Ange Postecoglou.

Spurs had a terrible domestic season the previous year, finishing in 17th position with a pitiful 38 points from 11 league victories.

However, by winning the Europa League and qualifying for the Champions League, the team managed to rescue their 2024–2025 season to some extent.

In last month’s final in Bilbao, Spurs defeated Manchester United 1-0.

Postecoglou was fired even though he guided the North London team to their first trophy in 17 years.

Spurs issued a statement on social media confirming his termination in the wake of numerous rumors.

It stated: “Following a review of performances and after significant reflection, the Club can announce that Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties.”

Daniel Levy has been considering it for a week.

The decision coincides with a number of high-level changes, including the announcement earlier this year of Vinai Venkatesham as the club’s new CEO and the resignation of longtime executive director Donna-Maria Cullen on Monday.

Additionally, it seems that Spurs have already found a replacement.

They are considering a move for Thomas Frank of Brentford, who has previously spoken with the team about a possible transfer.

The 51-year-old is reportedly receiving significant consideration from Spurs.

According to Sky Sports, Frank will not be prevented from joining a larger team by Brentford.

Frank first joined Brentford as the team’s assistant head coach before being hired in December 2016.

When he succeeded Dean Smith in October 2018, he finally got the main position.

The Dane has done an outstanding job at Brentford, transforming the Bees into a Premier League team after leading them to promotion in the 2020–21 campaign after defeating Swansea City in the Championship play-off final.

Postecoglou, on the other hand, departs Spurs after two seasons.

After joining from Celtic, where he won five major trophies, including back-to-back Scottish Premiership titles, he led the team to a fifth-place finish in his first season.
