Tonda Eckert sack talk rises as Southampton suffer a terrible display against Middlesbrough.

Tonda Eckert is under increasing pressure from Southampton supporters following their 4-0 defeat at Middlesbrough.

Morgan Whittaker’s brace, as well as goals from Samuel Silvera and Alan Browne, helped Kim Hellberg’s team to an impressive three points on Sunday afternoon.

The result extends the Saints’ winless streak to six games, following defeats against Norwich City and Oxford United.

Following draws against Millwall, Birmingham City, and Coventry City, Eckert’s side is now 15th in the Championship after 25 games.

Southampton’s goal at the outset of the season was to compete for automatic promotion, but they could now face a second managerial sacking of the season instead.

Southampton supporters apply pressure on Tonda Eckert.

Eckert has managed 13 Championship games since taking over as manager from Will Still in November, originally on an interim basis.

The 32-year-old was named permanent successor on December 5 after overseeing four wins in his first five games, which he followed up with two more triumphs.

However, the Saints have now gone six games without a win, putting them in risk of finishing outside the top six in the table.

Supporters have expressed their dissatisfaction with the team’s current condition, and a change in the dugout is once again being considered.

Some fans are losing patience with Eckert’s formation, implying that he must change or leave.

Others blame the players, arguing that someone like Russell Martin should be brought back to the club to get things back on track.

Some fans have also lost patience with the ownership, feeling that a new manager will make little difference as long as Sport Republic is in charge.

Supporters have lost faith in their ability to run the club, which could take some of the pressure off Eckert in the short-term.

Southampton’s next match is an FA Cup third round away against Doncaster Rovers on January 10th, at 3pm.

Tonda Eckert’s appointment has already backfired at Southampton.

Eckert was hired based on a small sample size of five games, so it’s not surprise that things have already started to go wrong.

This is someone who had no managerial experience before becoming caretaker boss at St. Mary’s, so it was always going to be a high-risk appointment.

It was an odd judgment to make such a rushed decision about Still without a solid plan for who could replace him long-term.

Sport Republic is now facing the anger of supporters, who ultimately decided to make this management appointment.

It would be meaningless to fire Eckert following the 4-0 loss to Middlesbrough if there is no notion who could take his place, as he cannot exactly become caretaker again.

The Hampshire club has found itself in a difficult situation as a result of poor decision-making, which may now lose them a chance at promotion this season.
