Football is a game that never sleeps. Somewhere in the world, someone is engaged in some aspect of the beautiful game during each of the 86400 seconds that make up a 24-hour day. This might be anything from booting a ball against a wall with friends to sharing their expert analysis on social media or winning a high-profile match at the last minute.
Since no human can possibly keep up with everything that happens during a game, football is often made great by the small but fascinating moments, such as a fan’s alternate perspective on a penalty save, a three-second but incredibly telling exchange between two bitter rivals, or a thread on X that explains why N’Golo Kante is the nicest man in professional sports.
In order to address that issue, GIVEMESPORT developed our live blog, which offers the best social media features available along with the best football mini-stories from the previous day.
March 23: Germany Scores a Brilliant Goal Against Italy, Who Were Caught Sleeping? Italy’s goalie, Donnarumma, was too preoccupied to gripe to his compatriots.

Germany’s cunning strategy caught Gianluigi Donnarumma and the Italian defence off guard during their Nations League match, and Jamal Musiala profited from the Italian’s carelessness. Tim Kleindienst’s header was deflected over the bar by Donnarumma, allowing Joshua Kimmich to resume play whenever he desired.
After receiving the ball from a ballboy, Kimmich quickly switched on and played the ideal pass to a waiting Musiala, who had an empty net to finish into. This was because Donnarumma had avoided his goalmouth’s wrath by griping about his countrymen’s dismal start to the second leg of their quarterfinal.

Possibly the best penalty taker of all time is Cristiano Ronaldo. You can practically count on him to blast the ball into the net every time he walks up to take a spot-kick. But he failed to take advantage of the chance to score from 12 yards out during Portugal’s match against Denmark on Sunday night.
Ronaldo comfortably put the ball down on the spot after winning a penalty with just five minutes remaining. Interestingly, his attempt was weak, and Denmark’s top scorer, Kasper Schmeichel, comfortably saved his effort. He may have taken one of the worst spot kicks of his career, and it was a bad penalty.
