After spending his first day with the England squad at St. George’s Park, Thomas Tuchel made an immediate change to a fundamental principle that Gareth Southgate had established.
On Friday, the German manager will take charge of the Three Lions for the very first time. The match will take place at Wembley Stadium and will be a World Cup qualifying match between England and Albania.
Every single member of Tuchel’s 26-man squad reported to St. George’s Park at noon on Monday, marking the beginning of their international duty. The match took place at St. James’ Park.
Among them were the two players from Newcastle, Dan Burn and Tino Livramento, who had been celebrating their team’s victory over Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final the day before.
This resulted in Southgate implementing a different plan than the one he had previously made use of whenever he was in charge of international camps from the elite training facilities.
According to a report in the Daily Mirror, Tuchel, who formerly served as the manager of England, is now conducting training sessions in the afternoon rather than in the morning.
It has been asserted that one of the primary reasons for doing this is to better replicate match conditions on Friday and Tuesday, when England will be playing Albania and Latvia in matches that will begin at 7:45 p.m. respectively.
In its place, Tuchel will make use of the morning period to hold one-on-one meetings with players and to “have get-togethers with the whole squad.”
It is important to note that the German government has ‘flipped the schedule’ rather than making significant changes, which will help to ensure that there is some continuity from the previous regime to the new one.
A number of coaching appointments have been made by Tuchel in advance of the first training camp. One of these appointments is Anthony Barry, who was previously the coach of Chelsea, joining the England setup as an assistant manager.
Justin Cochrane, who is currently the head coach at Brentford, has also joined the coaching staff. Additionally, Henrique Hilario, who was formerly the custodian for Chelsea, has been appointed as the custodian coach.
While some members of Southgate’s entourage have continued to serve in their current positions, the majority of the players who represent England will have the opportunity to collaborate with new individuals during their international camps held at St. George’s Park.
