Thibaut Courtois gives insight into what Trent Alexander-Arnold is like in Real Madrid training as he makes ‘horrible’ claim

Trent has undoubtedly made an impression in his first weeks in Madrid.

Thibaut Courtois has described what Trent Alexander-Arnold is like in Real Madrid training after the former Liverpool fullback recorded his first assist for the club.

Los Blancos advanced to the Club World Cup quarterfinals on Tuesday night, thanks to a second-half goal from academy graduate Goncalo Garcia in a hard-fought 1-0 win over Juventus.

Garcia, who has been compared to Los Blancos hero Raul, headed home Trent Alexander Arnold’s perfectly-weighted cross in the 54th minute for his third goal of the tournament.

Naturally, the in-form Spaniard was one of the main talking topics, alongside Trent.

After the final whistle, teammate Thibaut Courtois was asked about the England international, who has made an immediate impression since his summer arrival.

Courtois went on to describe how the 26-year-old performs in training.

Speaking to DAZN, he stated, “I believe he could have had a few in these four games.” His pre-assist versus Pachuca was likewise excellent. In training, he’s terrible, yet his kicking is incredible. “His free kicks and corner kicks are truly exceptional.”

He went on to say, “I don’t think I’ve seen someone with his kicking and crossing ability, so being a goalie can be a nightmare at times. But it keeps you on edge and motivates you to work hard to save them, to make him and yourself better.”

Following Real Madrid’s victory over Juventus on Tuesday night, head coach Xabi Alonso was asked about Trent.

“Trent? I believe in him. “He still needs time, but he’s an incredible player,” the Spaniard added.

“Crossing is his trademark; he’s completed 500 of them. On the right, we may need an extra foot. He’s not particularly good at one-on-one dribbling. He travels to Madrid to participate despite having received little training. “Everything takes time.”

Alonso added: “Everything takes time, but I’m confident we’ll have a dependable full-back.” First, we need to progress as a team.”

Dani Carvajal, a long-time Madrid player, challenges Trent Alexander-Arnold to a ‘personal challenge’.

The Spaniard said it was “logical” for the club to sign Alexander-Arnold, but warned that he is ready to play after missing months due to a catastrophic knee injury.

Carvajal stated, “On a professional level, it makes sense: fresh people are joining every team and role. I see it as a personal challenge, and I enjoy competing. Important difficulties lie ahead, and ideally healthy competition will help the squad improve significantly.

He continued, “Trent has adapted beautifully, and he has treated everyone fantastically. He had a lot of trust in Jude, yet he’s quite kind to everyone. When we’ve got a spare day, he’s come out for a stroll or dinner, and the guy is really, really nice.”
