Sheffield Wednesday are looking for better days ahead if the Storch family completes their ownership of the club.
The Owls’ fans have had to deal with a lot over the last year, including genuine concerns that the club may cease to exist.
Given their riches and background, the Storch family’s selection as preferred bidders was extremely encouraging, and they are currently finishing the agreement with the EFL in the hopes of making an announcement before the end of the campaign.

David Storch hopes to modify Sheffield Wednesday’s crest ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Given the predicament that the Storch family will inherit at Hillsborough, many fans will understand the importance of being patient and giving them time to get things right on the pitch.
It has been claimed that they will begin next season with a points deduction and wage limits, despite ongoing conversations with the EFL about the latter.
Nonetheless, it shows the challenges that Wednesday will have next season, and returning to the Championship on their first try already appears to be a tall order.
Despite this, the Storch family is sure to have plenty of support from Wednesday fans, and it looks that they are doing their part to try to listen to what the supporters want.
That comes after the Sheffield Star reported that David Storch has’signalled an intention’ to modify Wednesday’s club crest back to the ‘Retro Owl’, which currently appears on the third uniform and is popular among fans.
Any change would require EFL approval, and the Yorkshire club would also have to demonstrate that the’majority’ of fans support the change, but that is not expected to be an issue in this situation.
So, Storch will see this as an excellent opportunity to demonstrate that he has listened to the supporters and implemented a constructive change.
The Storch family must do everything they can to reconcile Sheffield Wednesday supporters.
As previously stated, Wednesday fans have been through a lot, and they understand that it will be a lengthy process to get to where they believe the club belongs.
Obviously, investment in the squad will be essential, and the primary goal will always be to construct a competitive and flourishing team for Henrik Pedersen on the pitch.

However, the Storch family must also develop bridges to heal the fan-club relationship. It is not their fault, but they must listen to fans’ opinions and do everything they can to unite the supporters, since this will help Wednesday become a stronger force in the future.
That’s not something Dejphon Chansiri did, and alienating those who come to watch week after week is never a good decision. He treated them with contempt, which added to the overall pessimism that had pervaded the club for so long.
The early indications are that the Storch family will not do that, and changing the emblem would be a demonstration of them recognizing what their fans want from their club, therefore it would be a huge plus for Sheffield Wednesday if this goes through ahead of the new season.
