The legal dispute started on Monday.
The Cityzens commenced their legal dispute with the Premier League about the Financial Fair Play matter on Monday, September 16. The current English champions learnt in 2023, after an extensive investigation, that they will face charges for purported violations of Financial Fair Play regulations. The allegations against them originate from 2009, shortly after Sheikh Mansour assumed control of the club.
With the judicial processes commencing on Monday, La Liga president Javier Tebas implored the Premier League to impose severe penalties on the Manchester club if they are deemed culpable of violating regulations. He cautioned the English top division against favouring larger teams over smaller ones and asserted that the league would forfeit its legitimacy if it did not enforce stringent penalties on City.
In an interview with GIVEMESPORT, the La Liga executive stated, “The Premier League ought not to succumb to pressure, correct?” Manchester City is only another club, and when one leads an organisation, decisive action is required. The Premier League should not distinguish between large and small, or significant and insignificant, clubs.
Manchester City is part of the association that has engaged in irregularities and warrants appropriate sanctions. Failure to do so will result in the forfeiture of competitive authority.
