The 11 richest owners in the 2025/26 EFL Championship has been revealed


The 2025-26 Championship season has been another fascinating one.

Southampton, Ipswich Town, and Leicester City all returned to the second tier in the hopes of returning to the top flight, but the latter has instead found themselves at the bottom of the table after losing points.

11 Shilen Patel, West Brom – £376 million

Shilen Patel, West Brom’s principal shareholder, bought the club from Chinese investor Guochuan Lai for £60 million.

According to Birmingham Live, the American businessman’s net worth is estimated to be $100 million (£75.3 million), however it is not all of his riches.

Birmingham Live said in the same article that his father’s net wealth is $400 million (£301.3 million), with a portion of these monies invested in Bilkul Football WBA, LLC.

This means that the total wealth is £376.6 million, with Shilen in charge of the club and his father taking a back seat.

10 Steve Gibson, Middlesbrough – £640 million
