Kris Boyd frequently loses his temper when discussing Celtic as a Sky Sports analyst. His lack of composure frequently makes him appear amateurish when discussing the Hoops. Following Celtic’s victory over Livingston, Boyd focused on the Champions League play-off draw against Kairat Almaty, but was immediately shut down by Celtic veteran Chris Sutton after a weird diatribe about Brendan Rodgers.
Chris Sutton dismisses Kris Boyd’s dig at Rodgers.
During the program, Sutton was condemning the Celtic board’s management of the transfer market when Boyd jumped in, stating Rodgers had been supported with “over £60m spent since he came back.”
Sutton challenged him.
“Did they replace Kyogo properly? “Have they replaced Nicolas Kuhn?”
Boyd responded by asking: “If you need players in those positions, why sign more midfielders when you’ve already got plenty?”
Sutton responded: “That’s irrelevant. “What is the net spend?”
Boyd dismissed the point, saying it “didn’t matter” and asserted Rodgers’ immunity to criticism. Sutton, on the other hand, remained steadfast, claiming Celtic had failed to reinforce critical areas and that the fans’ outrage at the board was justifiable.
Sutton echoed the supporters’ frustrations.
Sutton’s remarks echoed the sentiments of many Celtic fans, who are dissatisfied with what they regard as a failed transfer strategy. Boyd, on the other hand, appeared to miss the point, giving the impression that he was out of touch with fan sentiment.
With Celtic drawing in on Michel-Ange Balikwisha, there is hope that the board will finally provide the reinforcements Rodgers requires — and, at least temporarily, silence Boyd’s frequent anti-Celtic outbursts.
