CS Maritimo has published a statement confirming Mato’s departure from the club to join Swansea.

CS Maritimo has publicly declared that Vitor Matos would quit the club to become Swansea City’s new manager.
The Portuguese club announced his exit late Friday night, following a €1 million compensation fee paid by the Welsh squad.
A translated statement on the club’s social media channels read: “Coach Vitor Matos will leave CS Maritimo to take over the technical command of Swansea City, after the English club issued, this Friday, the termination clause in the value of €1 million, a countermatch that guarantees Maritimo the respective financial compensation and prior to which the club could not do anything.
“The green-purple emblem expresses the most sincere gratitude for the professionalism, dedication and contribution made throughout the time he has served the Maritime Service.”We wish Vítor Matos tremendous personal and professional success in the future.
According to JM Madeira, the Swans offered roughly €500,000 for the 37-year-old. However, Marítimo rejected the proposal, stating that the whole clause must be fulfilled for the deal to proceed.
The Swans moved quickly to replace Alan Sheehan after being turned down by Kim Hellberg, who is expected to join Middlesbrough instead.
Matos led Marítimo to third place in Portugal’s second tier, earning accolades for rebuilding the team and stabilizing the club.
Swansea, meanwhile, have announced that Darren O’Dea will be in charge of Saturday’s trip to Bristol City.
The club has yet to officially confirm Matos’ appointment.
